Double-hung windows feature two operable sashes that slide vertically, allowing you to open the window from both the top and the bottom. This dual-sash design gives you superior control over airflow: open the bottom sash for a direct breeze, the top sash to let warm air escape, or both for natural convection that circulates fresh air throughout the room. Most of our double-hung windows feature tilt-in sashes that swing inward for easy cleaning from inside your home — no ladder required. With the widest range of sizes, colors, and grid patterns available across all of our brands, double-hung windows are the versatile choice that works in virtually any room.

Single-hung windows look nearly identical to double-hung windows, but only the bottom sash operates — the top sash is fixed in place. This simpler mechanism means fewer moving parts, which can translate to a lower price point and less maintenance over time. Single-hung windows still deliver excellent energy efficiency and are available with tilt-in sashes for easy cleaning. They’re one of our most popular replacements because they provide a clean, traditional look at an exceptional value.

Casement windows are hinged on one side and swing outward with a crank handle, opening the entire sash to catch breezes from any direction. Because the sash presses tightly against the frame when closed, casement windows offer some of the best air-sealing performance of any operable window style. The lack of a center meeting rail means you get an uninterrupted view and maximum natural light. Fold-away crank handles sit flush with the frame so they won’t interfere with curtains or blinds.

Sliding windows — also called sliders or gliding windows — feature one or more sashes that glide horizontally along a track. They’re an excellent choice for wide openings where a vertically-operating window would be impractical, and they work especially well in contemporary home designs. Since there are no pulleys, springs, or cranks, sliding windows are among the simplest to operate and maintain. End vent sliders, which have a fixed center pane flanked by two operable sashes, are available for extra-wide openings and provide balanced, symmetrical ventilation.

Awning windows are hinged at the top and swing outward from the bottom, creating a canopy-like opening that lets fresh air in while deflecting rain away from your home. This makes them the perfect choice for ventilation in any weather. They share the same excellent air-sealing performance as casement windows and are frequently paired with picture windows or stacked above or below other window styles to create custom combinations.

Picture windows are fixed (non-operable) windows designed to frame your view like a work of art. With no sashes, hardware, or meeting rails, they deliver the most unobstructed sightlines and allow the most natural light of any window style. Because they don’t open, they also provide the best energy efficiency and soundproofing, since there are no gaps for air or noise to penetrate. Picture windows are often used as a centerpiece, flanked by operable casement, double-hung, or awning windows for ventilation.

Bay and bow windows project outward from your home’s exterior wall, creating a wider sill area and a sense of expanded interior space. A bay window typically combines three window panels at angled projections — usually a large center picture window flanked by two operable windows — while a bow window uses four or more panels set in a gentle curve. Both styles flood a room with light from multiple angles and add dramatic curb appeal. The side panels typically open for ventilation, while the top and front panels let sunlight stream in from multiple directions. They’re designed for growing herbs, displaying plants, or simply adding depth and character to a kitchen, bathroom, or any space that could use a little extra light and life.

Hopper windows are hinged at the bottom and tilt inward from the top, providing ventilation while keeping rain and debris out. Their compact profile makes them ideal for small openings like basements, bathrooms, and utility areas.
